Challenge:
Design a lightweight, intuitive app that allowed users to snap, upload, and code receipts/invoices/purchase orders, while keeping it consistent with Alii’s brand and syncing seamlessly with the main platform.
Approach:
- Conducted competitor analysis and reviewed popular expense apps for inspiration, including the one Alii staff use internally.
- Created a clean, focused UI that emphasized speed and ease-of-use.
- Designed a flexible system where receipts could be reused across modules.
- Built the design system from scratch in Figma, then prototyped in FlutterFlow.
Outcome:
A simple but powerful mobile tool that integrates directly into Alii’s ecosystem. For many users, this is their only interaction with the product, making its UX clarity and performance critical.
Impact:
Although this app is in development, after thorough research with clients we are expecting over 50% of our users to use this as their primary interaction with Alii, which is a massive chunk. Based off client interviews, every user outside the finance and business manager departments will most likely use the mobile app over the web app for convenience and ease of use.
